Belton, Texas – Registration opens for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor’s Summer Swim Program Friday, April 13. From June to July the program offers both group and private swim lessons at the Barbara Chaney Natatorium in the Mayborn Campus Center on the UMHB campus.
Swimming lessons are available for children and adults, nine months old or older. The UMHB swim program follows the Red Cross’s “Learn to Swim” levels, focusing on water safety skills and swimming fundamentals. Swimmers are grouped by age and skill level. In order to advance to the next level, a student must have either completed the previous level or be able to demonstrate proficiency at its skills.
Group lessons consist of eight, forty-five minute lessons, held Monday to Thursday over two weeks. The cost for eight group lessons is $75; personal lessons, $140. Special discounts are available for military personnel and families registering multiple children.
Sessions I runs from June 4 to June 14. Session II runs from June 18 to June 28. Session III runs from July 9 to19.
Registration can be completed online at www.umhb.edu/swim. Registrants must create a user account and follow the automated prompts. We will also conduct registration in the Mayborn Campus Center at the front desk of the fitness center during regular hours of operation. Classes are limited to a small number of students, so registration is conducted on a first-come-first-serve basis.
