Belton, Texas - Registration for children’s summer chemistry camps at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor is underway. Enrollment is for rising third through sixth graders interested in exploring the exciting world of science.
Cost to attend the camp is $110. The camp rums from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. It is offered in two sessions, June 9-13 and June 16-20.
Dr. Darrell Watson, Professor Emeritus of chemistry, has designed the camp to encourage elementary and middle school students change their attitudes towards science, while giving them actual laboratory experience. Participants will make slime and nylon, turn pennies into gold and silver, and conduct many other exciting chemical investigations.
Teachers interested in learning exciting hands-on science activities to utilize in their classrooms can participate at no charge. Some partial scholarships are available for students.
Chem Camp is sponsored by the UMHB Science Education Resource Center, the Heart ‘O Texas Local Section of the American Chemical Society, the UMHB Chemistry Department, and the Sigma Pi Chemistry Club.
