Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor College of Visual and Performing Arts will be hosting senior voice recitals by Gerald Nicholas and Elizabeth Pasichnyk. Both events are free and open to the public.
Nicholas is a senior Music Education major at UMHB and a voice student of Dr. Guy Wilson. He will present his recital on Thursday, February 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hughes Recital Hall of Presser Hall on the UMHB Campus. Gerald is the son of Milton and Janice Nicholas. At UMHB Nicholas sings in the Opera Program, the Concert Choir, and One Voice. He has sung roles in The Merry Widow by Franz Lehar and Little Women by Jay Richards. As a senior he is currently serving as Student Conductor of the Concert Choir. He sings in the choir of Christ Episcopal Church in Temple and has been a guest soloist at First Presbyterian Church in Temple.
Nicholas’s recital program will include songs by Franz Schubert, Robert Schuman, Johannes Brahms, Ernest Chausson, Gabriel Fauré, William Grant Still and Aaron Copland. He also is performing the aria “Ch’ella Mi Creda” from La Fanciulla Del West by Giacomo Puccini.
Pasichnyk, soprano, is a senior vocal performance major and a student of Penny Hogan, Assistant Professor and Associate Director of Opera/Music Theatre at UMHB. She will present her recital Tuesday, February 26, at 7:30p.m. in the Hughes Recital Hall. Pasichnyk is the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Pasichnyk of Temple. Her recital will feature songs by such composers as Pergolesi, Bellini, Marx, Poulenc, Beach, and Stainer.
