Belton, Texas--The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Scott and White College of Nursing held its traditional pinning ceremony on May 4, 2012 in the W. W. Walton Chapel on the university campus. Fifty-one nursing graduates participated in the pinning ceremony. Joining them at the ceremony were their families, friends, and classmates.

Dr. Sharon Souter, Dean of the College of Nursing, presided over the evening. The graduates were pinned by Luanne Gantt and Carrie Johnson, nursing faculty. The pin that each student received has been the same design since the first class graduated from Scott and White Training School in 1904.

The Tau Epsilon chapter of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society conducted its induction during the Nursing Pinning Ceremony. Seventeen BSN graduates were inducted.          

The benediction was given by Andrew Kester and Kelsey Anderson, graduates of the program. During the pinning program, outstanding graduates were recognized and given awards. Dana Durham of Belton and Shawnee Loeckle of Farmersville received the Clinical Excellence Award. Krystal Michelle McMahan of McGregor, Zack Potter of Belton, and Angie Gentry of Harker Heights received the Academic Excellence Award. The Purple Heart Award was given to Kelsey Anderson of Weatherford, Texas. The Golden Cross Award was presented to Andrew Kester of Houston. The Duce Nursing Excellence Award was presented to Cynthia Stovall of Belton. The graduates and their families attended a reception at Shelton Theatre following the Pinning Ceremony.
