New Voice Instructor Joins Conservatory of Music

Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Conservatory of Music appointed Dr. David Thomas as the newest voice instructor.

Dr. Thomas earned a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance from University of Georgia and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Arizona State University. 

He has 14 years of college teaching experience and received two Teaching Excellence awards from the University of Georgia. His students won at the Georgia and Southeastern National Association of Teachers of Singing auditions, and many of his students received music scholarships to universities across the United States.  Dr. Thomas is experienced in improving student’s chances of making the All-State Choir, discovering the best UIL solos that match each student’s voice and in preparing students for their university music auditions.

A few of Dr. Thomas’s performances include being guest artist with the Bach Choir with Paco Peña in Phoenix, Arizona; being the Artist Fellow with the Bach Aria Institute at the State University of New York, Stony Brook; playing the role of “Count Almaviva” in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro at the Athena Grand Opera Company, Athens, Georgia; and he has performed as the Baritone Soloist in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and in Handel’s Messiah with the Gainesville Symphony Orchestra, Gainesville, Georgia.
