Belton, Texas – The annual Miss Mary Hardin-Baylor Pageant is set for Friday, November 4, and Saturday, November 5, at 7.00 p.m. in W.W Walton Chapel on campus. As part of the competition, 27 young ladies will represent various university organizations, residence halls and classes in their quest for the title. Unlike more traditional pageants, Miss MHB recognizes a young woman’s self-confidence, personality and inner beauty.
During the first night of the competition, contestants will perform their talents, which range from musical performances to a live science experiment. The ladies will be judged based on their creativity, originality, preparedness, confidence, the appropriateness of their props and costumes and the overall presentation.
Saturday evening the contestants will be judged in both an evening gown round and interview competition. Again, judging criteria will include personality, confidence, diction and sincerity.
Following the announcement of this year’s winner, a small reception will be held in the Mabee-Farris Recreation Gymnasium of the Frank and Sue Mayborn Campus Center.
The director of this year’s pageant is Landra Davidson, a senior Mass Communications/Public Relations major from Clyde, TX. Landra’s assistant directors are Pancho Gutierrez, a Business major from Brownsville, TX, and Cara Scott, a senior Social Work major from Clifton, TX.
