Belton, Texas – The early childhood Kindermusik program at the UMHB Conservatory of Music is accepting new students for the spring 2011 semester.  All spring Kindermusik classes will begin the week of January 10, 2011.

The following classes have openings for new students.  The Our Time classes on Tuesdays at 6:15 pm, Wednesdays at 10:15 am, and Thursdays at 9:45 am is for ages 1 ½ to 3 years of age.  A caregiver does need to attend this class with each child.  The spring curriculum is Fiddle-Dee-Dee which takes its name from the beloved folk song about the fly who married the bumblebee and the theme of “fiddling around” is present all through the semester.  The semester will explore creatures from the animal kingdoms that are furry, web-footed, winged, and whiskered.  Our Time reflects the emotional foundations of school readiness and the latest research on music and early childhood development.  Our Time is a unique opportunity for parent and child to interact and learn together in an unhurried and joyful manner.  The tuition and fee for the 45 minute Our Time classes are $200 for the 14 week semester.

On Wednesday mornings the Kindermusik class, Village, for our youngest students is offered at 9:15 am.  Village is for lap babies, crawlers and walkers who are newborns through age 1 ½.  It incorporates the most current research on early childhood development and provides families a special place for learning and connecting with other parents and babies through music and movement.  The spring curriculum is Hickory, Dickory, Tickle & Bounce and The Rhythm of My DayHickory, Dickory, Tickle & Bounce encourages Baby’s language development through the rhythmic nature of favorite childhood nursery rhymes.  Using basic American Sign Language this unit offers parents a new way to communicate with Baby before she is ready to verbally talk.  The Rhythm of My Day continues to introduction American Sign Language and is highlighted by the concept of a family’s daily rituals and routines.  Songs and activities are designed to help Baby and Parents incorporate music into many of their regular routines.  The tuition and fee for the 45 minute Village classes are $218 for the 14 week semester.  This class requires the caregiver to be present for the entire class.
