Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, Scott and White College of Nursing held its traditional pinning ceremony on December 6, 2012 in the W. W. Walton Chapel on the university campus. Fifty-six nursing graduates participated in the pinning ceremony. Joining them at the ceremony were their families, friends, and classmates. Dr. Sharon Souter, Dean of the College of Nursing, presided over the evening. The graduates were pinned by Luanne Gantt and Teresa Beamon, nursing faculty. The pin that each received is unique and has been the same design since the first class graduated from Scott and White Training School in 1904.
The Tau Epsilon chapter of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society Induction was conducted during the Nursing Pinning Ceremony. Nineteen BSN graduates were inducted.
The benediction was given by La Toya Reneé Moore, graduate of the program. During the pinning program, outstanding graduates were recognized and given awards. Shannon Dawn Kruse, Temple, Texas, received the Clinical Excellence Award and the Academic Excellence Award. The Clinical Excellence Award was also given to LeeAnn S. White of Brodhead, Wisconsin. The Purple Heart Award was given to Kristi Diane Sharp, Pflugerville, Texas, and the Golden Cross Award was presented to LaToya Reneé Moore, Lilbourn, Missouri. Maribel Castro Turin, Huancayo, Peru was given the Laura Cole Award. The graduates and their families attended a reception at Shelton Theatre following the Pinning Ceremony.
