Belton, Texas - The sound of young voices will fill the air of UMHB’s Hughes Recital Hall on Monday, April 18 at 7 pm. “Spring into Music” will be presented by the four children and youth choirs of the UMHB Conservatory of Music. The Killen ISD, Union Grove Middle School Varsity Mixed Choir, will join the Concert Boys choir on Leave Her, Johnny, arr. Emily Crocker. The Union Grove Choir will be joined by the combined Concert Girls and Boys Choir for the choreographed presentation of Java Jive by Milton Drake and Ben Oakland.
The Preparatory Choir is directed by Krista Eshbaugh and accompanied by Kathryn Brown; the Concert Girls Choir is directed by Amber Brown and accompanied by Caroline Brown; Deborah Carney directs and Kathryn Brown accompanies the Concert Boys Choir; the High School Choir is under the direction of Nancy Bales and accompanied by Emily Greer Gary. The Preparatory Choir is a non-auditioned choir. Membership in the Concerts Girls, Concert Boys, and High School Mixed Choir is by audition only. All four choirs rehearse once a week on Mondays for one to two hours. Choir members learn to sing with healthy vocal production using the finest literature available for young voices.
The four UMHB Conservatory of Music choirs will join to end the evening with two combined works, Put On Your Sunday Clothes from Hello, Dolly! and The Lord Bless You and Keep You by John Rutter.
