Belton, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor students will present Fall Character Cameos on Tuesday, December 7 at 11:30 a.m. in Brindley Auditorium of York Science Hall on campus. Performance Studies Students in the Department of Communication and Media Studies will present performances of autobiography of historic people from primary sources. This event is free.
Presenters have researched their characters, studied them as role models, written scripts, and have prepared to perform the autobiographical stories of fascinating, great people.
Danielle Morales Lopez will deliver a multi-media presentation of the story of Brian “Head” Welch. Jake Stamps will show his filmed story of Roger Federer and Garon Nobles will present his film autobiography of Dale Earnhardt. Jonathon will provide a PowerPoint overview of the life of Jackie Robinson. Oliver Stone will reenact the story of Bill Russell. Miles O'Neill will tell the story of John Perkins. Kristi Clark will portray Toni Morrison. Amanda Arnold will deliver the story of Dr. Mary Edwards Walker.
Jasper Gates will portray Norman Vincent Peale. Cameron Prenger will present the story of Anne Frank. Kendall Doles will tell the story of Miles Davis. Cara Scott will perform the life of Princess Diana and Hayley Ainsworth will enact Audrey Hepburn.
Students have used the text of their professor, Dr. Diane Howard, in preparing their projects. This book,
Autobiographical Writing and Performing: An Introductory, Contemporary Guide to Process and Research in Speech Performance (McGraw Hill, 2000 & 2003) is in the UMHB Bookstore and online.
Performance Studies students and alumni have performed stories of autobiography, guided by Dr. Diane Howard's research on role modeling, for the past 20 years.
