Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor has seen the largest spring enrollment in its 166-year history, according to the official eighth-day enrollment figures.
The official enrollment for spring 2012 is 2,854 students – up 129 students from the total of 2,725 students in spring of 2011. Spring enrollment includes 2,527 undergraduate students, 247 graduate students, and 80 doctoral students.
According to Gary Lamm, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, the record spring enrollment can be attributed to a number of factors, including having had a record enrollment during the fall semester.
This spring’s registration represented a few other records for UMHB. Students registered for more hours than any spring semester before them. There are also more students living on campus than during any spring in UMHB history.
The record number of students living on campus was bolstered by the opening of Farris Hall in the fall. Farris Hall is an 82,750-square-foot apartment complex with 163 beds. Nearly half of UMHB’s undergraduate students live on campus.
UMHB was chartered in 1845 by the Republic of Texas. It is a private, Christian university affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas. The university is known for its personal attention to students and for high academic standards.
The mission of UMHB is to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society. Academic excellence, personal attention, broad-based scholarship, and a commitment to a Baptist vision for education distinguish UMHB’s Christ-centered learning community.
